MGM win/loss statement
An MGM win/loss statement is the club’s own tally of what went through the machines and tables, usually one calendar year at a time. Coin-in on that statement is the number you can use to check whether a slot offer was good for your play.
The table below is an example statement. It is real activity, anonymized: no name, no address, no account number. It is one illustration of the MGM Rewards layout, not a portrait of a typical member and not a survey.
What each win/loss statement column means
| Column | What it is |
|---|---|
| Resort | The property where that activity was recorded. MGM Rewards consolidates its casinos onto one statement, with a separate line for each resort that had play in the year. |
| Coin out | Money the machines paid back, as the statement defines it. Self-pay W-2G jackpots are included here. A W-2G is the tax form for certain larger wins; “self-pay” means the machine paid it, rather than a staff handpay. |
| Plus: Jackpots | Handpay W-2G amounts. These are wins large enough that the casino pays them by hand and reports them. They are not already inside coin out, so the slot math adds them. |
| Less: Coin in | The amount wagered in the machines — every spin, not your net. This is the column that can sanity-check a slot offer: theoretical loss is roughly coin-in times a house-edge assumption. |
| Estimated slot win/loss | Coin out, plus jackpots, minus coin in. A negative number is a loss. On the example file this identity holds to the cent. |
| Estimated table win/loss | Rated table play, estimated by the club. It is not coin-in. Blackjack, craps, and the other table games do not produce a coin-in column on this statement. |
| Total estimated win/loss | Slot win/loss plus table win/loss. Negative means the year at that resort was a net loss on this statement. |
How to request an MGM win/loss statement
The research file marks this method confirmed: online, in an MGM Rewards account, under Win/Loss, at mgmresorts.com/account/win-loss. The same note says the statement is not an official tax document.
A mail request and an in-person request at the club desk are not described in the file we have. Verify both with MGM before you rely on them. Do not treat a blog post’s mailing address as current unless you have checked it.
Win/loss statement columns
MGM Rewards prints the statement in this order: Resort, Coin out, Plus: Jackpots, Less: Coin in, Estimated slot win/loss, Estimated table win/loss, Total estimated win/loss. The words on the paper and the words in our table are the same ideas.
Read a line left to right as an equation. Estimated slot win/loss equals coin out plus jackpots minus coin in. Total estimated win/loss equals that slot figure plus the table figure. If a future upload breaks either identity by more than a cent, the ingest rejects the row.
Example statement, 2022–2026
Each year is requested separately and then shown together here. Resorts with no play in a year do not appear. A year with a small coin-in is a light year, not a verdict on the player and not the window the casino used when it mailed an offer.

What coin-in is good for
For slots, theoretical loss is about coin-in multiplied by an assumed house edge. This site uses 6%, 10%, and 14% as a planning range, with 10% in the middle. None of those is the casino’s par for a specific game. The statement does not print the hold.
A worked version of that check sits on the offer scorer, using this example’s coin-in beside an anonymized Pearl-tier offer. The same rooms look very different against a light year and against a heavier one.
Other clubs
Caesars Rewards also issues win/loss statements, on its own form. Cruise lines and regional clubs differ again. Those layouts are not in this draft. Another club’s file should get the same treatment: one column map, one identity check, and a page that names each column.
Published thresholds and the column glossary above are the free tier. The next rows of a worked offer table are blurred on the club pages.

Questions
- Is a win/loss statement a tax document?
- Treat it as the club’s activity summary, not as a tax return. MGM has described its win/loss statement as not an official tax document — confirm that wording on the statement you receive. This page is not tax advice. Rules for deducting gambling losses are specific, they change, and they depend on your return. Ask a tax professional before you rely on any of these numbers.
- Why is win/loss negative when I remember winning?
- The total is an estimate of money in versus money out for rated play, across the whole year at that resort. A memorable jackpot can sit inside a year that was still a net loss. Jackpots are part of the math; they are not a separate profit column.
- Can I upload my own statement here?
- Yes, as a CSV in this same column layout. The file is checked, stored without a name or account number, and marked pending. It is not published.
